The West Tennessee Railroad is a short line freight railroad serving western Tennessee for over 40 years. We're a small, family operated company that takes pride in keeping our line in good shape and running reliably for our customers. We're looking for a proven crew leader to join us as Track Foreman.

The Role:

This is a working foreman position. You'll lead a small team of track workers in the day-to-day execution of maintenance and repair work across our line — ties, rail, surfacing, switches, ballast, right-of-way. Work priorities are set by our Track Inspector or General Manager; your job is to get that work done right, on time, and safely.

What You’ll Do:

  • Execute track maintenance and repair work as directed by the Track Inspector

  • Lead, supervise, and develop a team of track workers

  • Run job briefings and manage on-track safety and flagging for your crew

  • Operate and oversee use of MOW equipment and hand tools

  • Keep the General Manager informed on progress, material needs, and any field issues

  • Respond to after-hours calls for track emergencies, derailments, or weather events that require immediate attention

What We’re Looking For:

  • Hands-on track maintenance experience — you know the work from the ground up

  • Experience leading a crew, formally or informally

  • Solid understanding of on-track safety and FRA rules

  • Someone who takes pride in their work and holds their team to a standard

  • Valid driver's license required; CDL a plus
